Meditations :: Gravitational Pull
Lie on your back in the grass with your arms and legs extended and uncrossed. Take a moment to become fully aware of your
entire body. Feel your muscles, bones, skin and organs from toe to head. Breathe deeply…fill your lungs completely
…exhale…let all the air flow out…feel the natural pull of gravity begin to take over your body.
Nature’s undeniable force pulls at your legs, making them heavy and immovable. Permit the natural influence to draw your body closer to the earth. Feel your arms and torso becoming weighted. As you become more aware of gravity’s overwhelming power, your body sinks deeper into the soft ground, let it. Your neck and head rest comfortably on earth’s pillow. Gravity is pulling away all the stress, worry and anxiety of every day life. Your muscles relax, one by one, fed by the oxygen you breathe. The tensions of the day are being absorbed by the earth mother, to be replenished, renewed and reborn.
Gravity has fully taken over your physical body, but your mind and thoughts are free to wander. Allow them to do so…to take you wherever they wish. Let thoughts come and flow freely by. Acknowledge the ideas that come to you, contemplate them if you wish, but do not judge them. It is not time for that now, simply accept what your subconscious has to share with you. Breathe in the scents of nature, the grass, the dirt, the flowers, trees and plants that surround you, let this lead your mind where it may. Be open to messages from the natural world. Accept these as you would accept thoughts from your own mind, no less or more real.
When you feel your session is ending, draw up from the earth the reserves of energy that are held within it. Share in these reserves as the ancients did to replenish your physical body, your intellectual mind and your spiritual connections. See the energy as pure, bright white, pulsating and flowing through the entire planet, from core to crust. Notice that the plants around you have roots that are feeding from this same energy. It is yours as much as it is theirs, if you would like it to be. Your connection to the earth is strong now, use this connection to revitalize yourself, allow the energy to pour into your body at every point that it connects with the earth mother.
Begin to wiggle your toes. Move up your entire body, slowly moving each muscle, tendon and limb. Work your way up to your head and lift your head from its pillow. Breathe deeply the scents that surround you. Take a moment to pause and say thank you, then record any thoughts, visions, images, or just single words into your journal.
